Taking your baby to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom can be such a magical experience—but it definitely helps to plan ahead. After going this year with our daughter, I picked up a few tips to make the night smoother, more fun, and a little less stressful.
Here are my best tips for enjoying the party with a baby in tow!
1. Get Your Costume Ahead of Time
Do a Family Costume!
Planning a family costume makes the night even more fun (and makes for adorable photos!). We ordered ours on Poshmark to save some money—our daughter’s costume was a Disney Baby brand Alice in Wonderland, I was the Queen of Hearts, and my husband was the White Rabbit.
Altogether, we spent less than $50 on all three costumes!

2. Go on a Weeknight
We went on a weekend because of my husband’s work schedule—and it was very crowded. If your schedule allows, try going on a weeknight, ideally in September. You’ll find shorter lines, smaller crowds, and more time to enjoy the treats, shows, and rides.

3. Bring Your Own Trick-or-Treat Bags
You’ll get a small bag when you enter the park (sometimes it even has candy already inside), but it doesn’t hold much—and cast members give out huge handfuls of candy at every stop!
We each brought our own bag, and by the time we left, all three were completely full.

4. Bring Headphones for Little Ones
The fireworks and stage shows can be very loud, especially for sensitive baby ears. We packed headphones for our daughter just in case.
In full transparency—she wouldn’t wear them very long —but it still made me feel better having them on hand!

5. Bring Baby-Friendly Treats
If your baby isn’t old enough for candy, pack a few snacks or pouches so they can join in the fun.
We brought puffs and an applesauce pouch, and it worked perfectly. Our daughter got to have a “treat” too and stayed happy during all the excitement.

6. Watch the Parade from Frontierland
Frontierland is one of the best spots to watch the parade—it’s less crowded, and you’ll have easy access to the breezeway that connects to Adventureland once it ends.
That shortcut is a lifesaver if you want to keep moving without waiting for the parade route to clear.

7. Get There Early
Because we have annual passes, we went to Magic Kingdom a couple of hours before the party started. That ended up saving us so much time—by the time the official event line opened, it was super long!
If you can, plan to arrive early so you’re ready to go when the party begins.

8. Watch the Show Right Before the Fireworks
Here’s a pro tip: catch the castle show that happens right before the fireworks. Most guests stay in their spots afterward to watch the fireworks, which makes it hard to find space later.
By watching both back-to-back, we got a great view for both without having to move!

9. Eat Dinner Early
If you’re able to get into the park before the official start time, eat early! Once the party starts, you won’t want to miss a thing—especially the trick-or-treat stations, parades, or character meet-and-greets.
Final Thoughts
We absolutely loved taking our daughter to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! It was such a fun, memorable night. We’ve already decided to make it an annual tradition.
It was so special seeing it through her eyes as a baby—and I can’t wait to experience it again when she’s a toddler!
