If you’re visiting EPCOT with a toddler, don’t worry if your little one isn’t tall enough—or interested enough—to spend the entire day riding attractions. Some of our favorite memories at EPCOT have happened completely off the rides.
Whether you’re taking a break between Lightning Lanes, skipping longer waits, or your toddler simply needs to run around, here are our favorite non-ride activities that make EPCOT one of our favorite parks for little kids.
1. Explore Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana
Journey of Water is one of the best attractions for toddlers because there’s no rush to get through it.
Your little one can wander the trails, touch the interactive water features, and explore at their own pace. It’s a great place to let toddlers move after spending time in the stroller.

2. Visit the Aquarium at The Seas with Nemo & Friends
Even if you skip the ride itself, the aquarium is worth visiting.
The massive tanks are home to sea turtles, sharks, rays, colorful tropical fish, and manatees. Our daughter could easily spend 30–45 minutes just watching the animals swim by.
It’s also one of the best places to cool off during a hot Florida afternoon.

3. Watch the Miniature Trains in Germany
This is one of EPCOT’s hidden gems for toddlers.
The Germany Pavilion features a detailed miniature village with moving trains traveling through tunnels, bridges, and tiny towns. It’s amazing how long little ones can stay entertained simply watching the trains go by.
Best of all, there’s no wait and no Lightning Lane required.
4. Meet Disney Characters
Character greetings are often just as exciting as rides for toddlers.
Depending on the day, you may be able to meet favorites like:
- Mickey Mouse
- Minnie Mouse
- Goofy
- Anna & Elsa
- Princess Jasmine
- Snow White
- Winnie the Pooh
If your toddler loves characters, this can easily become the highlight of the day.
5. Let Your Toddler Burn Off Energy at the Festival Play Area
If you’re visiting during the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, be sure to stop by the Green Landing Family Play Space.
These seasonal play areas give toddlers a chance to climb, play, and explore while parents enjoy a short break.
Since they’re only available during select festivals, they’re a fun bonus if your trip lines up with one.
6. Watch the Friendship Boats
Sometimes the simplest things are the most exciting.
Find a bench near World Showcase Lagoon and watch the Friendship Boats travel between countries. Toddlers often love waving to passengers as the boats arrive and depart.
It’s a peaceful break from the busier parts of the park.
7. Enjoy the Live Entertainment Around World Showcase
Throughout the day you’ll find musicians, cultural performers, and entertainment in several World Showcase pavilions.
Some performances include:
- Mariachi musicians in Mexico
- Matsuriza drummers in Japan
- Street performers in Italy
- Live bands during festivals
Toddlers love stopping to dance along for a few minutes before moving on.
8. Explore the Gardens and Open Spaces
One thing that makes EPCOT great for toddlers is that not every moment has to be planned.
Some of our favorite places to wander include:
- The United Kingdom gardens
- The pathways around Japan
- The quiet courtyards in Morocco
- The flower displays during festivals
These areas are perfect for stretching little legs while enjoying a slower pace.
9. Try Some Toddler-Friendly Snacks
EPCOT has plenty of snacks that are toddler-approved.
Some favorites include:
- Pretzels
- Fresh fruit
- Ice cream
- School Bread from Norway
- Festival booths with kid-friendly options
Having a snack break can reset everyone’s mood after a busy morning.

10. Take Your Time and Let Them Explore
This might sound simple, but it’s probably our biggest tip.
Toddlers don’t remember how many rides they rode—they remember splashing in water, watching fish swim by, spotting ducks, dancing to live music, and exploring new places.
Some of our favorite EPCOT memories have happened when we slowed down and let our daughter lead the way.
If you’re visiting with a toddler, don’t feel pressured to do everything. Sometimes the best day at Disney is the one with the fewest plans.
What We Always Pack for EPCOT with a Toddler
These are a few items we never visit EPCOT without, and they’ve made our park days so much easier.
- Stroller fan
- Cooling towel
- Portable charger
- Insulated lunch bag
- Refillable water bottle
- Bubble wand
- Kids sunscreen stick
- Noise-canceling headphones
If you’re trying to pack light, I’d say the stroller fan, cooling towel, and snack containers are our three most-used items during the warmer months.
Final Thoughts
EPCOT has so much more to offer toddlers than rides alone. Between the aquarium, Journey of Water, character meet-and-greets, seasonal play areas, live entertainment, and plenty of space to explore, it’s a park where little ones can truly enjoy the day at their own pace.
Some of our family’s favorite Disney memories weren’t made while waiting in line for an attraction—they happened while watching trains in Germany, pointing out sea turtles in the aquarium, or letting our daughter splash and explore at Journey of Water.
