If you’re visiting EPCOT with a toddler, you might assume there isn’t much for little ones to do beyond a few rides. But one of the things I love most about EPCOT is that there are plenty of places where toddlers can slow down, explore, and burn off some energy between attractions.
Whether you’re trying to avoid a mid-afternoon meltdown, need a stroller break, or simply want your little one to have some unstructured playtime, these are our favorite play areas around EPCOT.
1. Green Landing Family Play Space
If you’re visiting during the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, don’t skip the Green Landing Family Play Space.
This area is designed specifically for younger kids and usually includes climbing structures, interactive activities, and plenty of room to move around while parents relax nearby.
After spending time in the stroller or waiting in ride queues, this is one of the best places to let toddlers get their wiggles out.
Tip: Festival play spaces are seasonal, so they’re only available during select festivals.
2. Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana
Journey of Water has quickly become one of our favorite toddler stops in EPCOT.
While it’s technically an attraction, it feels much more like a giant interactive playground. Toddlers can wander the winding paths, touch the flowing water, splash in designated areas, and explore at their own pace.
The attraction is beautifully landscaped with lots to look at, making it a fun experience even if your child isn’t interested in every interactive feature.
If your little one enjoys water play, you may want to pack a change of clothes or at least some extra socks.
3. The Seas with Nemo & Friends Aquarium
One of the biggest hidden gems for toddlers isn’t a playground at all.
After riding The Seas with Nemo & Friends, you’ll enter one of the largest aquariums in the United States. Our daughter could spend an hour here watching the fish, sea turtles, sharks, rays, and manatees.
Since the aquarium is indoors, it’s also a great place to cool off during the hottest part of the day.
There are plenty of viewing windows at toddler height, and it’s easy to explore at whatever pace works best for your family.
4. The Germany Miniature Train Village
Many guests walk right past the miniature train display in the Germany Pavilion, but toddlers absolutely love it.
The tiny villages are full of moving trains, bridges, tunnels, and miniature details that seem to capture little ones’ attention every single time.
It’s a great spot to slow down for a few minutes while enjoying the World Showcase.
5. The Butterfly Landing (Festival Feature)
If you’re visiting during the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, Butterfly Landing is another must-see.
Toddlers love watching butterflies fly all around them, and the enclosed garden gives them a chance to experience nature up close without feeling overwhelming.
It’s peaceful, beautiful, and makes for some adorable photos.
Like the Green Landing play area, this attraction is only available during the Flower & Garden Festival.
6. The Spaces Around World Showcase
One thing I love about EPCOT is that there are so many wide open spaces where toddlers can simply be toddlers.
Some of our favorite places to let our daughter stretch her legs include:
- The gardens in the United Kingdom Pavilion
- The pathways near the Japan Pavilion
- The open spaces around Morocco
- The bridge areas between countries
As always, keep an eye on little ones since these areas are open to other guests, but they’re wonderful places to take a break from the stroller.
Tips for Enjoying EPCOT Play Areas
A few things have made these stops even more enjoyable for our family:
- Visit play areas before nap time when your toddler has the most energy.
- Pack a small towel or extra outfit if you plan to visit Journey of Water.
- Bring snacks to enjoy during a play break.
- Don’t rush. Some of our favorite EPCOT memories have happened while our daughter was simply exploring instead of riding attractions.
Final Thoughts
EPCOT may not be the first park people think of for toddlers, but we’ve found that it’s actually one of the easiest parks to enjoy at a slower pace.
Between interactive exhibits, beautiful walking paths, seasonal play spaces, and the incredible aquarium, there’s plenty to keep little ones entertained—even if they don’t go on many rides.
Sometimes the best memories aren’t made on attractions at all. They’re made watching trains, splashing in water, spotting fish, or simply letting your toddler explore the world around them.
