If you’re trying to decide whether Animal Kingdom is worth visiting with a toddler, my answer is an easy yes.
While it doesn’t have as many rides for little ones as Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom offers something different. It’s a slower-paced park where toddlers can spend more time exploring than standing in line. Between the animals, walking trails, shows, and new family experiences like Bluey’s Wild World, there’s more than enough to fill a fun day.
Here’s what we think makes Animal Kingdom one of the best parks for toddlers.
1. Bluey’s Wild World

If your toddler loves Bluey (and let’s be honest…most do!), this is probably going to be one of the highlights of your day.
Located at Conservation Station in Rafiki’s Planet Watch, Bluey’s Wild World gives little ones the chance to meet Bluey and Bingo while participating in interactive activities inspired by the show. It’s designed with younger children in mind and is a great excuse to ride the Wildlife Express Train, which is an attraction all by itself for many toddlers.
Parent Tip: Don’t rush through Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Many families skip this area, which means it often feels much more relaxed than the rest of the park.
2. Kilimanjaro Safaris

This is hands-down our favorite attraction in Animal Kingdom.
Unlike a traditional zoo, the animals roam through large habitats, and every safari is a little different. You might see elephants crossing the road, giraffes walking right beside your truck, lions resting on the rocks, or zebras grazing nearby.
Our daughter loves pointing out the different animals, and it’s one ride we never skip.

3. Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail

If your toddler enjoys animals, don’t leave the safari without walking through Gorilla Falls.
This self-guided trail lets you take your time while spotting gorillas, hippos, meerkats, exotic birds, and other animals along the way.
One of my favorite things about Gorilla Falls is that there’s no rush. If your toddler wants to stand and watch the gorillas for ten minutes, you absolutely can.
It’s also shaded in many areas, making it a nice break on warmer days.
4. Maharajah Jungle Trek

Maharajah Jungle Trek is another attraction that’s easy to overlook, but it’s one of the best experiences if you are in Animal Kingdom with a toddler.
The trail winds through beautiful temple ruins where you’ll see:
- Tigers
- Komodo dragons
- Fruit bats
- Exotic birds
- Deer and other wildlife
The trail is stroller-friendly, and because you set your own pace, it’s easy to stop whenever something catches your child’s attention.
5. Feathered Friends in Flight

This live bird show is surprisingly entertaining for little kids.
During the show, colorful birds fly overhead while trainers share fun facts about them. The birds often soar directly above the audience, which usually gets lots of excited reactions from toddlers.
It’s also a nice opportunity to sit down in the shade for a little while.
6. Zootopia: Better Zoogether!

If your toddler loves Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, you’ll definitely want to check out Zootopia: Better Zoogether!
Located inside the Tree of Life Theater, this 4D show replaced It’s Tough to Be a Bug! and is much more family-friendly for younger kids. It follows Judy, Nick, and friends through different biomes of Zootopia with fun visuals and in-theater effects.
If your child enjoys movies more than thrill rides, this is an easy addition to your day.
7. The Tree of Life Trails

Before or after seeing the Zootopia show, spend a little time walking the Discovery Island Trails around the Tree of Life.
These peaceful paths offer close-up views of the incredible animal carvings on the tree, along with several animal habitats featuring flamingos, otters, kangaroos, and more.
They’re also one of the prettiest places in the park for family photos.
8. Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!

If your toddler enjoys music and familiar characters, this Broadway-style stage show is worth the stop.
The colorful puppets, catchy songs, and familiar story keep little ones engaged while giving everyone a chance to relax in the air conditioning for about 25 minutes.
Why We Love Animal Kingdom with a Toddler
Animal Kingdom feels different from the other Disney parks.
Instead of rushing from ride to ride, you’re encouraged to slow down, watch animals, explore walking trails, and enjoy the atmosphere. That slower pace works surprisingly well with toddlers.
Some of our daughter’s favorite moments haven’t been on attractions at all—they’ve been watching gorillas play, pointing out giraffes on the safari, dancing after a show, or waving from the Wildlife Express Train.
What We Always Pack
These are a few items we always bring to Animal Kingdom:
The walking trails and outdoor attractions mean you’ll spend quite a bit of time outside, especially if you’re exploring at toddler speed.
Final Thoughts
So, is Animal Kingdom worth it with a toddler?
Absolutely.
If your little one loves animals, Bluey, exploring, and seeing Disney characters without feeling rushed, Animal Kingdom can easily become one of the most memorable parks of your trip.
It may not have the highest ride count for young children, but it offers something just as valuable—a chance to slow down, discover something new around every corner, and experience Disney through your toddler’s eyes.
